At the castle, Lincoln, after taking a deep breath, calls up Clyde to relay the news to him that he and his family are royal, and that he got crowned as the new duke of Loch Loud. As they talk, Morag, having arrived back, eavesdrops on Lincoln and Clyde's conversation, and hears Lincoln remarking that because of his new position as duke, he's no longer getting overshadowed by his sisters. When Clyde questions how Lincoln can possibly still be the duke once he comes back to Royal Woods, he confesses to his friend that he and his family moved to Scotland.

Later, the Louds sail away from Loch Loud, waving goodbye to the citizens and their ancestors at the dock. After the ship has travelled a far enough distance, the citizens and the ghosts head back to their homes. At that moment, a submarine arrives at the dock, and Bobby pops out the hatch, having finally arrived at Scotland. Jumping out, he asks the fisherman where he can find Lori Loud, and the fisherman silently responds by handing him a telescope and gestures to the departing ship. Focusing on the ship with the telescope, Bobby discovers Lori on it and, realizing he arrived at Scotland a few moments too late, falls to his knees and screams in anguish.

The series revolves around the chaotic everyday life of a boy named Lincoln Loud, who is the middle child and only son in a large family of 11 children. It is set in a fictional town in southeastern Michigan called Royal Woods, based on Savino's hometown of Royal Oak. The series was pitched to the network in 2013 as a two-minute short film entered in the annual Animated Shorts Program. After running the numbers, Lisa concludes that Lynn Sr.'s side of the family hails from Scotland. Rita and Lynn Sr. agree to go vacation in Scotland, but their change jar is mostly empty, because Lola spent it all on keeping her teeth shiny. After helping repair the village, the Loud family says goodbye to Angus and the villagers and sets sail back home to Royal Woods. Lincoln Loud, the middle child and only son of Lynn Loud Sr. and Rita Loud, spends his time assisting his sisters—Lori, Leni, Luna, Luan, Lynn, Lucy, Lana, Lola and Lisa—as they go about their day-to-day duties, while also teaching his youngest sister Lily how to cope with living in a large family. After a particularly successful day in which the sisters all win awards, they celebrate at Lynn Sr.'s restaurant.

Upon reaching the bottom, the sisters laugh, finding his clothes funny and outdated, but Lincoln is unfazed by their insults, saying that he's going to rule Loch Loud. At that moment, Lynn Sr. enters and reveals that he cooked everything for their dinner. Later, Angus is guiding Morag to her temporary residence (a hovel, which Angus stayed in). As they walk, Morag nearly lets it slip that her ancestors drove the Louds' ancestors away, when it was widely reported that they left their kingdom and never came back. Morag, having been alerted to the Loud kids' return, rides on Lela to investigate and tells the Loud kids to show themselves.
He stealthily approaches Morag and, seeing her ordering Lela to fire at Lucy and Lucille, immediately tackles her, attempting to get the royal scepter out of her hands. As Lincoln and Morag fight over the scepter, Morag tells Lincoln that the reason why she wants the crown is because it means she'll never have to deal with the Louds ever again. Suddenly, because Morag was too distracted explaining her plan to Lincoln, she is reminded by Lincoln that they're heading straight for a castle wall.
Lincoln quickly runs through the hole they crashed through earlier, and as Lela crawls through, her large size causes the damaged wall to collapse, stopping the family and Angus from reaching them. As the family panics on how to reach them, Lily begins crawling under the rubble, as she's small enough to get through it. As Morag begins to trudge Lincoln towards the edge of a cliff while demanding him to hand the crown over, Lincoln tries to reason with her that there's a better way, but she refuses to listen, and attempts to derail his self-worth by telling him that he'll never be special and always remain in his sisters' shadows.
As the Louds enter the Scottish town, they ask a nearby fisherman on where they can find Loud relatives, and the fisherman responds by running away while frantically saying their last name, much to their bewilderment. As they venture around the town, they discover other oddities, like a door built much higher than the sidewalk, the signs being too jumbled to be comprehended, and the bell tower using a small bell instead of a giant one. Before long, the citizens begin to converge on the Louds, and one of the citizens asks them if they're really Louds, to which the family agrees. This causes the citizen to tell them that they're in the town of Loch Loud, which is named after their ancestors some 400 years ago. After he and the rest of the citizens explain their history ("This Town Is Named for You"), he guides them to the castle where their ancestors once lived.
